Today was a slow take off day… Bacon and eggs for breaky and seats outside to enjoy the view of Lake Proserpine from the Peter Faust Dam Campground
This is the start of our trip as the last time we were here we turned around and headed back to home, so the kids are excited this is “New Territory”..
Our first destination in the visitors information centre at Bowen, two reasons for this, 1 to get information for Bowen, Home Hill, Ayr and Townsville and 2 the photo with the big mango..
While in the visitor information centre it became apparent that just passing through Bowen wouldn’t be doing justice to this town, so the decision was made to find a caravan park and take our time looking around.
Our options were more expensive better location, less expensive a a bit more of a drive. We found the Bowen Holiday Park, on the Bruce Highway. Bowen Holiday Park | Caravan Sites, Cabins, Powered & Unpowered sites
We were greeted by the New Manager of the park and were given a very big and warm welcome. He couldn’t have been more helpful. Although this park is slightly, older it is clean and quite. There is a great water area for the kids.
Van set up we head off armed with brochures and a map with tourist spots put together by the Rotary Club, what a great idea to help visitors get around your beautiful town…
A hot tip was also to have Fresh Fish and Chips straight from the trawler at Bird’s Fish Bar Birds Fish Bar – Fresh Locally Caught Fish & Chips at Bowen Fishermans Seafood Co (business.site) So we decided on dinner and took it over to the Esplanade.
I couldn’t think a better way to finish off the day. With dinner done a walk to the end of the jetty seemed like a great idea. For once this feels like a holiday.. no rushing and the relaxing seems to have started.
