An update on the Avan Aspire 617, what a please of a van for a family. The kids have their own bed for the first time and the only arguing is who got the top bunk.. From the full size front bed for Maarten and I to the kitchen that has the wonderful pantry, I am in heaven. anyone with kids looking to travel with the ease of pulling up and opening the door, this is your van.
Today started at a “Gravel Pit” 40 km outside of Rockhampton called Milman. There was only one other overnighter with us and it was a lovely freedom camp for the night.
Wikicamps pinned a small museum in Marlborough that is a Gold Coin donation to enter. Although small it was well worth the stop on donaton to check it out.
On to Sarina and the attraction the kids are looking forward to, the Sarina Sugar Shed.
Our for the tour is Trudy and we are lucky that we are the only ones on the tour. We checked out the machinery used in cane harvesting, the mill was explained to us, how cane is grown and how the process works in the factory. We tasted freshly pressed cane juice, which is a lot like crushed green grapes. Then the best of all, the tasting. Chutney, sauces, ginger beer.
Then there was the Liqueurs and Rum, first I tested the Lime NOI (Nice of Ice), Butterscotch Snapps and the Rum Liqueur. That is when I should have stopped……… But I tried the Rum. I am not much of a drinker, and have since found out I don’t like rum….wow the power of those little shots stayed with me for a very longtime.
We couldn’t find and low cost or freedom camps near Sarina or Mackay so decided to make the run into Mackay and stay at the Andergrove Caravan Park our Avan Aspire 617 was fright at home in this park, with a Avan Cruiseliner Adventure Plus, Avan Aspire 499 and Avan Ovation M7 C class motorhome. We are here for 2 nights as we have heaps to see and do in Mackay.
